What are RV Services?

RV Services are those services performed outside the scope of the RV Inspection. They do not necessarily fall under the category of RV repairs, but usually are considered to be RV Maintenance

Expert RV Inspections & Service cannot perform repairs on your RV for a period of one year after the inspection, to avoid any risk of the inspector being tempted to "find" issues that don't exist in order to "fix" them. But preventive maintenance and other services that have no bearing on the inspection are perfectly fine for us to take care of.

New Owner RV Orientation and Walkthrough

Most new RV buyers at a dealership receive a "walkthrough" of their new RV either shortly after or possibly before the finances are completed. The employee performing this walkthrough with the buyer(s) may be a dedicated person who does this all day long, or maybe just a technician pulled from the shop to rush them through it. At any rate, you might be lucky to get an hour or so of their time, with them then running through each and every system in your RV at a dizzying pace, while they hand you a huge thick packet of all your warranty documents and instruction manuals. You then get home and might have the overwhelming feeling of "what did he say about ...?"

Expert RV Inspections & Service can arrange to meet with you and your family at your RV after the purchase, and take all the time you need to locate, demonstrate, operate and explain about each and every system in your RV, excepting for the engine and transmission in motorized RV's. We will demonstrate hands on how all the systems work, and recommend tricks and other ways to make the operation of your RV easier for you. This can be a fixed amount of time or open-ended on an hourly rate. Let us know if we can help you schedule your walkthrough by contacting us here.

Winterizing / De-winterizing Your RV

While the marketing and salespeople would like you to believe otherwise, except for some very special custom-designed units likely unavailable to the general public, no commercially sold RV available today not actively being lived in can withstand sustained freezing temperatures. If not addressed first, pipes will freeze and burst, holding tanks may rupture, and appliances such as water heaters may also warp and burst, leading to a very expensive replacements and repairs.

Winterizing your RV involves draining all the water from your pipes and fixtures, bypassing the water heater, and instilling non-toxic RV antifreeze into the system, ensuring it replaces all the water in all your pipes. This process should be done before nightly freezing temperatures become the norm.

In the spring after the risk of freezing nights have passed, or when you are ready to move to warmer areas, the whole process is reversed, known as de-winterizing, where the antifreeze is drained out and all water systems are flushed with clean water, ready for your use and drinking.

While almost all RV's come with instructions as how to perform the winterizing / de-winterizing procedures, many RV owners are intimidated or just prefer not to perform this themselves. We at Expert RV Inspections & Service will be pleased to schedule an appointment to perform these services for you. Please contact us here.

Sanitizing Your RV's Fresh Water System

Sometimes, either after using a suspect water source or after letting the RV sit unoccupied for a long while, the fresh water system may need to be sanitized due to bacterial overgrowth, or simply due to the development of a bad taste or smell of the water. Sanitizing involves draining out the water in the system, flushing all the tanks and pipes with a bleach solution, then draining out the bleach solution and refilling everything with fresh water. Expert RV Inspections & Service will be pleased to schedule an appointment to perform sanitization services for you. Please contact us here.

Black Tank Service  -  Blockages, "Poo Pyramids" and Tank Sensor Cleaning

Black tank service is generally not on the top of RV'ers lists of enjoyable things to do, especially when a black tank is not working properly. Also, if you need other work done at a dealer, and you show up with full black tanks, they will charge you upwards of $300.00 an hour to deal with them.

Sometimes a black tank will not drain all the solids properly, and these will build up, needing to be flushed out. Perhaps the owners did not flush enough water down the toilet during use, or for whatever reason the solids began accumulating in a more or less semi-dry "poo pyramid" that now needs to be addressed. The accumulating solids can also block the sensor ports, leading to faulty levels being shown on your main panels.

While we cannot guarantee that each and every black tank issue can be addressed, Expert RV Inspections & Service can come to your RV, evaluate the problem, and either take care of it during the service call or determine that more extensive repairs may be necessary. We would require a full-service sewer/septic tank access. Please note that a "honey wagon" which may be on site may be unsuitable due to the fact that they may be on a schedule and cannot "hang around" possibly for the hours that may be needed to handle your issue. Please contact us here to set up an appointment.

Air Conditioner Inspection / Cleaning

In most, if not all RV's the A/C unit is located on the roof. The unit needs regular maintenance, including cleaning the evaporator coils, cleaning the condenser coils, checking the filters and possibly other components. There is generally no way to access all the A/C components from inside the RV - you have to climb up on the roof to get to them.

Many people feel unsafe climbing up on their roofs, or may be physically unable to do so.

At Expert RV Inspections & Service, we can provide service to your AC unit(s) in a safe and secure manner. Contact us here to make an appointment.
